SUNIT In-vehicle PC Transport Logistics Case Study
Sunit On-Board PC´s are excellent devices for all kind of transport management systems. On-Board PC´s are specially developed for in-vehicle use and they suit particularly transport management systems, that are based on PC technology and utilses Windows operating systems.
The Sunit On-Board computers are used among others for timber transport management, fuel transport management, bottled gas transport management, hazardous waste transport management and for many other kind of transport management.
Haulage companies utilise Sunit vehicle PC´s equipped with GPS satellite-positioning system, digital maps and wireless data transfer (like a GSM modem). The transports are optimised in the office using the transport-optimizing system. Transport orders are sent to the Sunit On-Board computer mounted in the cabin of the truck through a GSM data transfer.
Drivers see real-time transport orders on the PC display in the truck, on digital map in the PC can be seen pick-up places and delivery places as well as driving instuctions. After the delivery driver can send delivery confirmation to the office, where the location of the vehicle can also be seen. On-Board computer can be equipped with CAN Bus connection, which makes possible to connect the computer to the vehicle´s own information system to benefitinformation of vehicles´s fuel consumption, driving hours, driving speed etc.
